Position: Retail Sales - K9 Specialist

At Hanson Grain, we pride ourselves in providing our customers with great customer service, quality products & knowledgeable staff. Our Dog department represents a major portion of our sales and customer traffic - therefore is a critical component of the whole company.

As our K9 Specialist you will be interacting with customers , answering product questions and making recommendations. K9 Specialist will be a source of knowledge that customers can trust and rely on for accurate advice. Your passion means you will proactively stay up to date with industry trends and new product offerings via publications, social media and trade shows. The ideal candidate is attentive to detail, works well independently and with others, and has the ability to problem solve quickly and effectively.

Duties

  • Provide prompt, friendly and professional customer service
  • Serve as a K9 product knowledge expert - problem solving for customers and making sound recommendations.
  • Increasing sales by engaging customers & developing relationships (70 % of your time)
  • Stock, price, merchandise and maintain all items in this department (30% of your time)
  • Develop working knowledge of ALL store departments
  • Perform all retail store operations ; customer transactions, stocking, merchandising & general housekeeping.
  • Key Holder duties - ability to open/close store, serve as Team Lead when needed

Requirements

  • Solid knowledge of dog breeds, behavior, health and training.
  • 2+ years experience in a Customer Service/ Retail setting -Pet Industry preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills -ability to listen & communicate
  • Ability to stand & walk for the duration of your shift. Must be able to lift & walk with bags up to 40lbs - and able to help load them into customer cars.
  • Physical activities that maybe required include but not limited to bending, stooping, lifting, climbing, carrying, walking and/or reaching on a frequent basis
  • Be willing to work a schedule that will include weekends and some holidays
  • Computer savvy, able to use multiple software platforms daily to accomplish business objectives
  • Positive, upbeat attitude
  • Desire to continue learning & expanding on your knowledge base.
  • LOVE dogs & the people who own them!

Hours 40-44 hours a week - 4 days a week & 1 full weekend day

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.50 - $16.50 per hour
